Step inside this cozy cottage for two

In her blog, Jenna Kinghorn shares the story of how she and her husband Iain found their current Rhode Island home. They were scheduled to view four houses that day, and the cottage was the very first house they saw. They immediately fell in love with it and made an offer the same day. As luck would have it, they were able to purchase the house they loved at first sight.
Built in 1928, the cottage has undergone a lot of transformation since the couple moved in a year ago. But like most homeowners, Jenna has a lot more projects in mind for the cottage. It takes time and effort, as well as imagination, to turn a house into a home.
A wooden plank with hooks, nailed to the wall at the entryway, offers useful for hanging coats and bags. The stool serves a double purpose: providing a place to sit when Jenna has to put on her boots and acting as a place to put down her bag. Jenna made the curtain herself using tea towels from France that she cut in half and sewed together.
The Ektorp sectional white couch can sit five people comfortably. The blue and white pillows, as well as the pure white throw, serve as perfect accessories. The trunk-style coffee table was a lucky find from Facebook Marketplace. Jenna painted and sanded it to achieve the vision she had for the piece. A patterned rug adds another point of interest to the space.
The dining table has a bit of history, as it came from a local restaurant that was closing. Jenna’s friend Alexsis restored and customized the table to suit Jenna’s needs. Four wooden chairs surround the table, which sits on a circular blue and gray patterned rug. A geometric pendant lighting fixture from Wayfair completes the whole setup of this cozy area.
Meals are a breeze to prepare in this kitchen that's equipped with a stove with plenty of grate space and an oven. An overhead microwave provides venting and quick heating for food that needs to be done in a hurry. A coffee maker promises many delightful mornings of waking up to the aroma of freshly brewed java. Wicker baskets on the floor cleverly store fresh fruits and vegetables.
A blue buffalo plaid duvet, luxurious white beddings and plump pillows issue invitations to restful sleep. A natural finish wooden chair functions as a bedside table for books and a pot of fresh lavender plant.
Calm, peaceful and serene: Three words that immediately come to mind upon entering this squeaky clean, predominantly white bathroom. A plain white shower curtain provides added privacy and keeps water from going into the rest of the bathroom. The patterned floor tiles came from Wayfair, classic subway tiles from Home Depot enhance the shower wall.
