A wall of glass connects this contemporary micro chalet with enchanted woodlands

Just a half hour from Quebec, Repère Boréal feels a world away in the heart of the Charlevoix mountains. Founded by two brothers, the eco-tourism resort offers a collection of micro chalets that connect tiny homes with nature.
Mashk is one of the resort's most charming escapes, complete with a wall of windows and a roomy rooftop deck to take in surrounding views. Mashk means "bear" in Innu, the indigenous language of the Charlevoix region. Visitors just might see a black bear native to the Quebec forest roaming outside during their stay.

Inside, a full wall of glass stretches two stories to the upstairs loft. With only forest to the back of the home, residents can enjoy the light, views and stars without sacrificing privacy. The seating area features a futon that can sleep two and a grassy-hued throw rug. A striking staircase with wood and steel railing leads up to the second floor.
Next to the seating area, a fold-down dining table can extend to seat a group. Mid-century modern egg chairs complement an industrial-style Edison bulb pendant light and sleek concrete flooring. The second-floor loft above creates farmhouse-style exposed-beam ceilings.
The kitchen is small but mighty, featuring all of the necessities for cooking. Exposed cubbies stash a toaster, toaster oven, dishes and glassware above the butcher block countertop. Black cabinetry below wears minimal-modern hardware in step with the home's aesthetic. A full-sized refrigerator, cooking plate and additional butcher block island make food prep a cinch.
Upstairs, a hand-hewn bed frame fits a queen-sized mattress. A glass partition offers safety without blocking views from the picture windows across the way. Sumptuous white linens sport contemporary farmhouse style. White shiplap ceilings feature exposed-beam accents.
To complete the spa experience, a walk-in shower features a luxurious rain head. Glossy black tiling lends a striking contrast to the all-white vanity and rectangular basin sink. Sleek nickel hardware offers a contemporary touch on the sink and shower. The bathroom features its own toilet, and additional facilities are offered in the main building a short walk away.
Outdoor stairs lead up to the rooftop terrace, which features a cozy sofa and small picnic table. A glass partition with a black iron railing complements the exterior's contemporary styling.

Outside, a firepit awaits with colorful Adirondack chairs and a large picnic table. Guests can also wander to the communal spa area, home to hot baths, a barrel sauna and an outdoor cold shower in warmer months.
