Inside, this converted skoolie offers a cozy cabin oasis

Paved to Pines is a small three-person shop in Saskatchewan, Canada, that works to help customers find the alternative lifestyle they’ve dreamed of. Building custom campers from top to bottom – out of small cargo vans to 40-foot skoolies that can truly go off the grid – the shop creates fully functioning homes with stunning interiors, all on wheels.
Like all of the firm’s design-fueled projects, Mike’s Cabin on Wheels does not feature a boring exterior and white-washed teak interiors. The converted school bus feels more like a cozy cabin than a bus, with a forest green exterior to match. To create the alpine feel, wood paneling on the walls and ceilings is stained in a Pecan MinWax PolyShade.

Right inside, the living space features a beautiful custom sectional sofa in a rich emerald, offering a cozy nook to curl up with a book or enjoy a movie on a custom TV mount. The sectional easily pulls out to create a secondary guest bed, ideal for a night’s stay or a quick nap. Across the bus, a cubic mini wood stove offers major heat in a small package.
In the kitchen, Jade Dragon green paint offers a soft complement to the bright sofa, topped with striking butcher block countertops. A large basin sink is accompanied by an oven and stove top for all the cooking necessities, with extended counters for added prep space or small eating nooks. A pull-down faucet finished in a dark bronze makes a style statement.
The bathroom is complete with a cedar-paneled shower, skylight and Maxxair fan. White subway tile lines the walls for a clean aesthetic.

At the very back of the bus, the bedroom offers a full bed surrounded by windows and a skylight so Mike can take in the stars and sun, like in a true cabin.

Get yourself a 1970s double-decker bus, park it by a private paddock on the British countryside, and transform it into an idyllic holiday getaway. That's the successful formula used in today's conversion, known as the Red Bus.
