Take a peek inside this gorgeous airstream who goes by the name Marjorie

An artist and textile designer living in the Great Smoky Mountains, Bonnie had been dreaming of putting her stamp on a different kind of project. Along with her husband, David, Bonnie had searched for a vintage Airstream for the better part of a decade, recently deciding to pull the trigger on a 1962 26-foot Airstream Overlander. Not up for a full-blown renovation, this Overlander was a perfect match, having recently undergone a complete restoration.
The previous owner added new axles, updated the plumbing and electrical, and installed new cabinetry. Digging up the original paperwork, David and Bonnie found the first owner’s name was a Miss Marjorie, and that became the name for their new wheels. After freshening the space with an earthy bohemian style, Marjorie was ready for a month-long road trip traveling west to Yellowstone, Oregon, California, Arizona and finally back home to North Carolina.

With a water hookup, the kitchen is extremely functional with a basin sink, stove by Dometic Range and just enough cabinetry storage. Walnut countertops were locally made by Adam Garret Designs. Bonnie added the small backsplash, using muted tiles by Mudtile. The Delta Trinsic Faucet in champagne bronze adds a flash of interest, complemented by a bronze hanging bar and copper cooking utensils.
Two sofas convert to a cozy sleeping space in the makeshift bedroom. By installing a small ledge beneath the cushion, it slides out to become a bed at night. Back cushions fit side-by-side on top of a custom-cut wood piece, creating a complete king-size bed. Bonnie recovered the cushions in a rich green faux velvet, complemented by a William Morris wallpaper. Together with chic sconces by Worley’s Lighting, the area feels at once welcoming and luxurious.
A full bathroom makes living in the camper particularly easy, offering two small closets with storage space for linens and clothes. Lyric Wafer Penny Tiles set on dark grout add graphic interest paired with a vessel sink and Delta Trinsic Faucet in champagne bronze like the one in the kitchen.

Family members spend most of their time in the small dining space, equally comfortable and functional. Although they prefer to sleep in the living space, the dining table folds down to form another bed. Gray upholstery by Joybird adds a layer of texture atop washed oak flooring by Kaindl. Adam Garret Designs custom made the walnut tabletop.
