An adorable cottage on a budget: you'll love the remodeled laundry room

Anne of Design Dreams by Anne, decided to turn what could be a dark time in her life into a experience of growth and reinvention. After her divorce, she purchased a 1930s fixer-upper cottage and got to work. Through trial and error, learning to use power tools for the first time, and as she puts it, "an enormous learning curve" she slowly turned the rundown house into her dream home.
Anne says she gets satisfaction from doing all the work herself and on a small budget. She has built window shutters, painted kitchen cabinets, widened a doorway, installed new hardware, and that's just to name a few of her projects! Take a look at the DIY wonderland below.
The front entry leads into the cozy living room. Anne created a gallery wall of artwork around her TV, blending it into the decor. Wood floors and bright white walls make the space clean and inviting.
This little nook was created with a pair of bookshelves, a couple of wicker chairs, and low nesting tables. It shows that you don't need expensive built-ins to get a happy reading corner.
In the dining room, Anne purchased second hand, mismatched furniture and then painted them to refinish the pieces and make everything coordinate. The black cottage-style chandelier finishes the look.
The kitchen went through a complete remodel with new cabinets, new butcher block counter tops, and a new bead board back splash. It's now a bright and happy space to prepare meals.
The master bedroom is done in soothing colors of turquoise and cream. Soft flowing curtains and fluffy bedding make it a relaxing and comfortable space.
The guest bedroom features a vintage iron bed and an eclectic array of artwork. To get a similar look in your own home, hang pieces about two to three inches apart and don't worry about matching frames.
This bathroom was done in sandy beige and white to bring images of a sunny beach. This room proves that you can create a spa-like bathroom even on a budget.
The laundry room is functional yet adorable. Anne added a long shelf counter, tower shelving, and kitchen carts to create a folding table. Underneath is a storage space for laundry and pet supplies.

A compact yet comfortable home with a spacious porch.
