A small Connecticut dream house: Don't miss the kitchen floor

This beautiful home belongs to designer Brooke Christen where she lives with her husband and three kids. The 1950's house is just over 1,000 square feet and is located in Connecticut. Brooke says she likes to design around objects that have a story and mix in funky, trendy pieces.
This small home manages to pack in a living room, kitchen, master bedroom, and three additional bedrooms. One bedroom functions as a family room. Each space is styled to perfection, yet still family friendly and livable. Take a look at each inspiring room in the full tour below.

The living room is mostly neutral with touches of blue and pink. The built in shelves are the perfect spot to display all of Brooke's unique accessories.
This large cabinet provides needed storage, and along with the big bike print, creates a focal point for the room.
The biggest statement in the remodeled kitchen is the patterned tile. Brooke says, "In a small cozy kitchen I knew it could handle the pattern. I think it works really well when you keep everything else pretty simple."
The retro appliances are actually new GE appliances designed to have a vintage look. They blend in seamlessly with the white cabinets and white subway tile back splash.
The bedroom's walls have a dark and moody gray in a flat sheen. Brooke brightens up the dark walls with bright white bedding.
The girls' bedroom features a graphic gray and white wallpaper. The mixed patterns, hanging lanterns, and colorful pillows create a fun and whimsical space.
The baby boy nursery is a dreamy space with black star and an astronaut-patterned wallpaper on the ceiling. The rooms is soft and cozy with layered rugs and a comfortable rocker.
