Tour this 1973 Silver Streak RV: The perfect backdrop for vintage-themed photos and parties

You will definitely feel you have been transported back in time when you see John Hewitt’s 1973 Silver Streak Continental Luxury Liner. It was an easy decision for John to buy something classic versus something trendy because he has previously owned and restored a 1973 Airstream Argosy.
"The quality of vintage travel trailers is much better than newer ones so I knew I wanted another vintage rig," he shared. "Research indicated that Silver Streaks, even though not nearly as well-known as Airstreams, were much better quality. I looked for months at Silver Streaks, Avions, and Spartans before finally finding and deciding on this unit."

The Silver Streak, which is parked on John’s property in northeast Georgia, has several unique features such as the gold trim used on the exterior and throughout the interior, smoky glass mirrors, original TV and telephone connections, four-speaker stereo system, and a larger than the normal-sized bathroom.
Everything is original except for the flooring. John doesn’t live in the RV. Instead, it serves as a man cave as well as a guest room when people come over to visit him.

The Silver Streak’s predominantly silver exterior with gold accents gives the 3-foot’ RV a sleek and sophisticated look. "The trailer is the perfect backdrop for vintage-themed parties and photos," he explained.
Its retro design with modern touches makes it a definite head-turner and attractive setting for informal gatherings.

The lounge area features an L-shaped couch that can easily fit more than three people and even a furry friend comfortably.

Soft throw pillows tossed casually on the couch add even more comfort and style to the relaxing sitting space.

The windows right above the couch, which open to the greenery outside, provide natural lighting during the day, and the curtains on all sides provide privacy at night. A multi-colored patterned rug separates this area from the rest of the living spaces.

Step back in time as you pretend to dial a friend’s number on this authentic circa 1970s white rotary dial telephone. A gold sun-shaped mirror hanging on the wall serves both a practical and decorative purpose. An eclectic mix of small items — a table lamp, a round desk clock and a lighted candle — are arranged casually in this nook.

This modern kitchen was designed for the ultimate convenience of the occupants of the compact trailer. The microwave oven works well not only for cooking quick meals but also for reheating leftovers. The four-burner stove provides an option for more involved and leisurely cooking.

The tabletop blender creates healthy fruit smoothies. Cleaning up is a breeze because the sink is right next to the vintage appliances. The drawers and overhead cabinets are all within easy reach.

The sleeping area comfortably fits two single beds. The padded headboards serve up clever expressions of both function and design. The light fixtures on top of the headboards provide some lighting close at hand when needed at night or on a gloomy day. The drawers under the beds provide smart, space-saving storage.

The bathroom, just a few steps from the sleeping area, is compact yet functional. A simple white sink, as well as a white toilet that sits on a platform, occupies most of the room. A fancy gooseneck lamp provides illumination as well as decoration in this washroom.
