How a family of three lives full time in a 36-foot fifth wheel

Tyler and Alexia Owens are the hands — and brains — behind the leather goods company Primitive Provisions. Together, the couple runs their business and raises their daughter Tinsley out of their 36-foot Hideout fifth- wheel camper.
At the end of 2019, the family sold their spacious brick-and-mortar home in favor of downsizing to open themselves up to new adventures. "We have had our minds made up for a while now that the traditional lifestyle is not our thing," Alexia writes. In a small footprint, the couple has everything they need to live big and express their clean, organic style.

Right from the entry, natural light floods the home. Wall storage is key to living tiny, so spice racks and hanging baskets offer smart solutions. Graphic floor tile sets off the dining area, which features a spacious dining table. Gauzy white curtains keep the color pallet clean and airy.
Next to the dining area, another tiled space makes up the Primitive Provisions headquarters. A perfectly sized nook accommodates a work table and large sewing machine. Sometimes the machinery needs to be brought into the middle of the living area, but it stashes away nicely in its bright work corner.
The main footprint of the RV includes the living/seating area, kitchen and dining room. To keep the space from feeling cluttered, the couple opted for clean white walls, gray ash wood-look flooring and natural cedar accents. Plenty of windows and an overhead skylight make the space feel bright and open.
Next to the dining table, a comfy leather sofa provides a cozy place to relax and enjoy the view. Overhead, built-in cabinetry offers storage with a low profile. Fringe throw pillows lend a touch of boho style.
The kitchen features grey cabinetry for a touch of color. Faux marble countertops and a clean white tile backsplash don't overwhelm the space. The stove features a butcher block cover to double as added prep space, and wall-mounted cutlery saves room on the counter. Wood artwork by Upstate Repurposed complements the woodsy style. A spacious fridge is built in next to the oven, with more wall-mounted storage beyond.
Tinsley has her own space in the form of this adorable nook. Her loft bed doubles as sleeping space as well as her TV area. Plenty of storage exists underneath for books, dolls, craft supplies and shoes.

Mom and Dad's bedroom, too, is outfitted with ample storage. A built-in bunk leaves space for shelving and cabinetry below to accommodate clothes and personal items. As with the rest of the house, there's a spacious window to let in light and the rustic views beyond.
