Step inside this tiny home that fits perfectly in the woods

In 2014, Travis Pyke, founder of Wind River Tiny Homes, designed and built this picturesque tiny home. He has also been living there with his wife, Brittany. She shares that contrary to her initial apprehensions that she might feel trapped while living in a tiny home, she felt free instead. The house, which they named Wind River Bungalow, enabled the couple to achieve the simple lifestyle that they wanted.
Because he lives in a tiny house himself, Travis has a deeper understanding of what works when it comes to building small houses. He shares this knowledge with his team, and as a result then homes they create combine both beauty and functionality. He also works closely with his clients to ensure their homes turn out exactly as they have envisioned them.

This 18-foot home is mostly made from cedar wood. The predominantly brown wood color scheme of the house complements the natural forest setting where the home sits. Several windows around the house have the dual purpose of letting in light and air. A pair of rocking chairs on the deck subtly invite spending long idle hours for enjoying the natural surroundings.
A small sitting area takes up one end of the home. Another option is to sit on the white lounge chair on the other side of the room. The bare finish of the hardwood floors matches the wood-panelled walls and ceiling.
Open wooden shelves offer plenty of storage space in the kitchen. Several cooking pans hang from a single steel rod on the wall. Custom-built oak cabinets provide extra storage. The white countertops match the white half circle table nearby.
The loft is directly above the kitchen. It is accessible through a built-in steel ladder and serves as the main sleeping area. The gable ceiling affords additional headroom and a sense of roominess in the intimate space.
The thick mattress of this medium-sized bed sits directly on the hardwood floor. A large window behind the head of the bed lets in sunshine. The light green walls add a soothing and calming effect to the space. The low section of the wooden ceiling makes the bed space feel cozy.
