Charm abounds in this rustic-chic lodge, complete with an indoor treehouse

For those looking to connect with nature without roughing it, Repère Boréal is a collective retreat made up of several unique structures and micro chalets in the Charlevoix region of Quebec, Canada. The company is run by two brothers living out their father's legacy to combine entrepreneurship and eco-tourism.
The property's crown jewel is the Utapi cottage. Meaning "roots" in Innu — the native inhabitants of the Charlevoix region — Utapi offers ample sleeping quarters, a full kitchen and even an indoor treehouse. Outside, the large outdoor terrace wears an ash gray to complement vertical panel siding.

Inside, a small boudoir closet offers a place to hang coats and jackets and stash muddy shoes. Intricate woodwork on the window frames is common throughout the home, which features a lot of glass for light and views. Flooring wears an espresso finish to contrast white walls and vertical panel siding.
The large, open kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, oven and stovetop with range and full refrigerator. Wood cabinetry with a dark cherry stain and minimal white knobs highlights a rustic-chic look. The large basin sink has a high-neck stainless steel faucet. Other small appliances include a toaster and coffee maker.
Exposed beam ceilings extend to the neighboring dining room, anchored by twin industrial pendant lights. A large table seats seven in mid-century modern egg chairs. Facing a large picture window, it is the perfect place to enjoy a meal with the view.
To the left of the dining area, a small seating space features a sofa facing the wood-stove fireplace. Built-in cubbies hold extra firewood to keep things toasty in colder months. Openness to the loft above adds to the room's grandeur.
Hardwood floors extend to the ceiling in the cabin-like loft bedroom. Across from the queen bed, a sofa bed can sleep two more lodgers. Hand-hewn details are seen on the wood-and-iron bed and matching end tables.
One lucky guest can sleep in the indoor treehouse, perched above a roomy futon. Birch logs anchor the tiny treehouse, which has vertical board siding. A small lookout window allows the resident to chat with others outside or simply let in the morning light.
The neighboring canopy offers the largest communal space under a gabled ceiling. Walls of glass open the room to mountains beyond while flooding the space with light. Blonde wood flooring complements slightly darker wood on the ceilings and exposed beams.
The exquisite spa-inspired bathroom features a large tub and shower enclosed by glass. Dark tile siding pairs with espresso-hued wood built-ins, such as a roomy linen closet.

Across from the tub, a shallow vessel sink and modern faucet sits on a minimal vanity. Wood panel ceilings feature sleek recessed lighting to keep the room dark and moody, with only one small window.
