5. Colorful Airstream has the fanciest design, especially when lights turn on
The Metro Hotel in Petaluma, Calif., has two new additions to its normal accommodation offerings. It recently added two Airstream trailers to the list of possible rooms to rent. One is a Bambi, and the second has been named the "Honeymoon Suite." As one of only 50 such trailers produced by Airstream, the Suite has a contemporary feel to the interior, quite different from Airstream's beginnings. According to Airstream, the company began with an idea from its founder Wally Byam. In 1929 he attached a tent to a Model-T chassis, but discovered that it wasn't great in the rain. He upgraded to a teardrop-shaped shelter with a camp stove and ice chest, and that was the beginning of Airstream trailers. The company seeks to turn out a quality product, and many vintage trailers are still on the roads today. Airstream states, "They are intended as a lifetime investment in happiness. 7. 'Silver Trailer,' a 1967 Airstream Tradewind
Sometimes buying something on impulse is not a good idea, but other times it could be the best decision you've ever made. Kristiana Spaulding purchased her 1967 Airstream Tradewind the moment she saw it parked on the side of the road in Idaho. As her road trip came to a close, she hitched her new Airstream to her vehicle and made her way home with absolutely zero regrets. After renovating her new baby, she created a website called Silver Trailer that allows people to rent out a number of vintage Airstreams for weddings and events. As an artist, Kristiana brought new life to the interior of her Airstream Tradewind. She explains, "I got to take a beautiful form and make it even more beautiful." She used the framework of the Airstream to create a studio in which she could explore materials and experiment with creating her own furnishings. The result is a wildly unique space where each element of the trailer is charged with the artist's vision.  Get the full tour here.
