This modern shipping container is spacious and trendy

Named the Mod 1.40, this home by LNP Designs in the San Fernando Valley of California features an 8-by-40 floor plan just the right size for an extra guest house, a home office or a private tiny home. The steel structure, known as an accessory dwelling unit, has a height of more than 9 feet and can be welded onto a permanent foundation.
The 320-square-foot interior offers a fully functioning bathroom with a shower, kitchen, living room, bedroom and dining area. All electrical and plumbing components are installed, and an in-wall split-system heating/AC unit provides comfortable climate control. An additional 16-by-12 deck is an attractive option, and solar and wind energy can be added for an extra charge.

The powder-coated steel walls are rust- and fire-resistant. Glass accordian doors 12 feet across and 8 feet high usher you in from the outside and welcome you into the home. The potted flowering plants add color and life at the entrance.
This spacious deck is a relaxing place to hang out during the day. Eat breakfast here, do some work on a laptop or entertain guests. The oversized beach umbrella over the wooden table provides shade and protection from the sun. A pair of weather-proof half barrel wicker chairs and a matching small table provide additional seating.
This love seat covered in dark blue upholstery is an inviting place to relax after a long day. Throw pillows covered in light green fabric add pops of color to accent the piece. A three-legged small round side table and dark green armchair complement the dark love seat. A rectangular art piece breaks the monotony of the plain white wall.
An all-white square table plus a pair of matching white chairs lends itself to an intimate dinner for two in this cozy dining area. The circular ceiling light fixture provides warm light over the dining space.
A predominantly white kitchen gives a feeling of freshness, and the white countertop affords ample space for preparing meals. White backsplash tiles provide practical and interesting detail behind the kitchen sink while keeping the kitchen neutral. The built-in cabinets are all within easy reach.
A no-frills single bed is all that's needed for getting a good night’s sleep. A three-panel art piece featuring a floral design above the bed livens up this cozy corner .
