A tiny Florida business delivers big dreams with shipping container studios

Tiny Studios is a Sarasota, Fla.-based company that turns shipping containers into dream spaces – from pop-up shops to offices, cabanas, gyms and pint-sized cottages. Founder Tamaryn Sullivan is an interior designer and self-proclaimed tiny home enthusiast.
From a selection of models with add-on and customization options, Sullivan and her team take a hands-on approach to guide projects from construction to completion. From an empty box, literally, Tiny Studios creates dream spaces that can launch businesses or offer living solutions for everyday families.

Starting between $58,000 and $62,000, respectively, the Villa and Chalet offer full living spaces with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a full kitchen and electric/sewage hookups. Sliding doors offer a brick-and-mortar home vibe, while panoramic windows let in light without hindering privacy. Interior and exterior lighting comes in an array of modern or industrial/rustic options.
For a small work space or in-law apartment, the Bungalow features heating and A/C, a full kitchen, bathroom and living space. For an added fee, an architectural roof deck offers a private respite to gather or sunbathe, accessed by a winding staircase.
Starting around $30,000, Studio and Retail plans offer unique workspaces or storefronts, complete with the necessary electric and heating, as well as a kitchen.

Studios feature an interior shiplap wall for added character, but any package can include interior decoration courtesy of Sullivan’s expert taste. Unique add-ons — such as an awning or living wall — add character and personality to a space and business.
