How one family of five lives full time in a thoughtfully renovated Skoolie

The Tokarz family lives full-time in a renovated Skoolie, accommodating three children and a dog for adventures across the United States. The family began by gutting the school bus and painting it a teal slate blue with pink accents.
Unfinished wood paneling on the ceilings keeps the space bright and airy, highlighting the bus's curvature, and darker wood flooring offers welcome contrast. Layers of texture and cozy accents make this house a home throughout, detailed on the couple's Instagram, @simplyusandabus.

Textural accents lend rich layers to the living room, which features an Oriental rug flanked by two bench seats that open up for added storage underneath. Cubbies for shoes and accessories are tucked throughout the bus.
Like any home, the kitchen serves as the main gathering space for the family. A light oak island and countertops, accented by white cabinets, keep the palette bright while a yellow floral statement wall offers a pop of color and interest. Ample counter space and an extended island provide room for food prep and enjoying meals as a family. A drop-in sink, dark bronze faucet, gas stovetop and stainless steel refrigerator offer all the amenities of a brick-and-mortar home.
The kids each sleep in their own cubby bunk stacked atop one another. This layout gives each child a private space, and they all picked their own wall color and decorations. A Millennium Falcon decal and Camper-of-the-Week paddle add personal touches in Cashin's cubby.
Next to the cubbies, the Tokarz parents sleep in a full bed with storage surrounding the space. A container tucked under the bed holds raincoats and jackets when they aren't in use.
The Tokarz also have older children who travel with the family now and then. When extra travelers are in tow, two hammocks allow the bus to comfortably sleep eight.
One of the bus's best features is its 70-square-foot rooftop deck. The space provides' room to relax and take in the scenery, or stash kayaks while traveling.

Although it isn't the most glamours of spaces, the bathroom is one of the most important rooms. A Nature's Head composting toilet comes with inverter controls and a solar remote display.
