Check out the open-plan living area in this amazing DIY container home

In 2013, Yamil Matilla and his fiancee put all their DIY and technical knowledge to the test by building their own container living space from scratch.
The couple, who reside in San Juan, Argentina, spent a year laboring over every single detail of their dream abode. It was no easy feat, and they were learning new things as they went - but, in the end, their remarkable journey was worth it. So much so, that a single blog post about their project has gained a fair amount of traction among the Latin American tiny living community.

For those of us who don't speak Spanish, though, there are always pictures to come back to. On that note, it's time to begin our tour:
This house relied on a single 40-foot (12.19-meter) shipping container in its construction. The white exterior finish was strategically chosen to allay the harsh South American summer heat.
For a flash of sustainability anyone can get behind, a solar-powered water tank was fitted on the roof.
Inside, the cozy open-plan interiors are set to amaze. That lighting fixture is quite exquisite, don't you think?
An efficient kitchen, with stylish counters and tiled back splash, is nicely tucked away in one corner.
On the other side, we get to see the living area and its clever storage additions.
Pay close attention: There's a more to this room than meets the eye. A flexible wall-mounted bracket holds the TV in place.
If you think that a single container couldn't possibly accommodate all your living essentials, this bathroom is bound to prove you wrong. Just look at it: we have a bath, a bidet, a toilet and a shower fitted in a very orderly fashion.
Even the bedroom is reasonably spacious for its compact size. A comfy bed and custom bedside tables make this area homely and sound.

Efficient and elegant - what's not to like? Suffice to say, this Argentine container home has made its mark in the community for all the right reasons.
