6 tiny cottage floor plans designed for narrow lots

Cottages are the perfect type of home for the beach, but beachfront property can be expensive. Sometimes all you can get is a narrow lot, but that isn't a problem when you can get a great house plan like the ones below.
Even if you aren't working with a narrow lot, you might find one of these homes to your liking. As a bonus, you would likely get some extra yard space at the front or the back. There's nothing not to love about that!

1. Country home with carport from ePlans.
At 815 square feet (76 square meters), this unique design from ePlans has a carport with a large storage space on the right-hand side. A door under the carport leads straight into the eat-in kitchen at the back of the home, but the house can also be entered through the front door. Here, the foyer provides access to the bedroom on the left and the main living space on the right. Other features of the home include a bathroom in the back left corner, a spacious laundry room in the center of the back wall, and a large walk-in closet in the very middle of the home.
2. One bedroom cottage with tiny but efficient kitchen from Houseplans.
This charming little home from Houseplans measures 461 square feet (43 square meters). The front door opens into a small foyer with a coat closet, where the bedroom can be accessed through a door on the right. Continue straight ahead to access the great room. Behind this, there is a U-shaped kitchen on the right and a bathroom with a tub on the left. The loft upstairs is not technically a habitable room because of the sloping ceilings, but it could be used for storage or as a children's play area.
3. Two-story Gothic revival from Floorplans.
Coming in at 896 square feet (83 square meters), this lovely Victorian home from Floorplans has the shared living space on the first floor and the bedrooms on the second floor. The front door opens into the living room, and a small hallway on the right leads to the eat-in kitchen. You'll pass a half-bathroom and the staircase on the way to the kitchen. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms with sizable closets as well as a second bathroom with a tub.
4. Compact two bedroom design from Houseplans.
This tiny home from Houseplans comes in at only 544 square feet (51 square meters), but it still manages to squeeze in two bedrooms. The living room takes up the front portion of the home, and behind it on the right is the kitchen. One of the bedrooms is directly across from the kitchen, while the other one is in the back left corner of the home. A bathroom with a tub is in the back left corner and a door right beside it leads outside.
5. Rustic two bedroom design from ePlans.
At 839 square feet (78 square meters), this design from ePlans boasts two bedrooms and a wood stove. The front door opens into the formal foyer, where you can find a coat closet. A door on the right opens into the living room, and sliding glass doors on the far right lead to the deck outside. An L-shaped eat-in kitchen takes up the back right corner of the home, and a hallway off the living room leads to the two bedrooms and a bathroom with a tub.
6. One bedroom home with optional second bedroom from Houseplans.
Although it measures 576 square feet (54 square meters), this design from Houseplans will be slightly larger if it includes the optional second bedroom. A small flight of stairs leads up to the front porch, where the door opens into the living room. A small kitchen area is found behind the living room to the right, and the bathroom is across the hall. The optional second bedroom can be accessed from the living room. The primary bedroom is located at the back of the home, and it includes two closets as well as a small laundry area.
