From dilapidated shack to chic cottage: You'll love the new hidden storage

This tiny black cottage sits on four acres of wooded land on the Cumberland River near Nashville, Tennessee. Once an abandoned, damaged shack, things changed for it when couple Tristan Warner and Jessie Pickren purchased the land and fully renovated the ramshackle house. Warner owns Tristan Warner Studios, a full-service general contracting firm that designed and constructed the cottage.
The construction process was intense and included stripping down the house to bear bones, bulldozing, and reframing. The new structure rests at only 400 square feet (37 square meters), but thanks to clever storage solutions and elegant interior design choices, it is efficient, airy, and welcoming. The studio layout combines the kitchen, bedroom, and living space all in one room. Take a look around in the tour below.

The interior is minimal but far from boring. Carefully chosen pieces and antiques sit against an all-white backdrop. Plant life and a wood burning stove are cozy elements that warm up the space.
The Murphy bed can be put away behind cabinets when not in use, saving precious space during daytime hours. A wall of windows and French doors allow natural light to flood the cottage.
According to the couple's interview in Lonny Magazine, these cabinets hold more than just the Murphy bed. Hidden in this wall are also clothes, office supplies, and household essentials.
Creative storage solutions are essential when living in such a small space. The white built-in cabinets also house this hidden door that leads to a shower, full-length mirror, and linen closet.
The kitchen area is actually just a few cabinets and a simple black counter top. The cooking is done on the wood burning stove or outside on the grill. An antique rug defines the space and warms up the exposed concrete floors.
The bathroom is an expected jewel with emerald green tiles and a powder blue sink. A gold mirror and accessories add a bit of luxury.
